Helping Adult Orphans
Adult orphans - having no family and usually no community support structure - often find themselves on hard times, especially once they exit state-run orphanages as young adults. We come along-side and assist these adult orphans who find themselves on hard times. We have been doing this work with adult orphans for over 25 years. We provide them with a community support structure and family environment where they can plug in and feel a sense of belonging and well-being.
We Help them Grow Spiritually
Very often adult orphans do not know the Lord. So, we tell them about God and how much He loves them. We disciple them and help them to get involve in the local church. We feel this is the most important thing we can do for them.
We Help Secure Housing
One of the greatest needs of adult orphans - especially after exiting the state-run orphanage - is finding a place to live. Most of the adult orphans depart the state-run orphanage with no money, no connections, and no means to secure housing. Thus, we come alongside and help them find housing (usually paying for the first few months rent). Oftentimes we just house them on our ministry premises in Romania until we can secure a more permanent accommodation.
We Help Secure Jobs
Another huge need for adult orphans after exiting the state-run orphanage is finding a job. Most have no connections, no skills/higher education, and very poor emotional intelligence. Hence, they have a very difficult time securing employment. Thus, we help them find jobs. Additionally, we work with their employers to help them habituate well in the new work environment.
We Plug into Community
So many of the adult orphans find it hard to plug into a healthy social network. Unaided, they usually remain unchurched and without a good social support structure. This is why we come alongside and help them plug in socially. We usually do this by getting them involved and integrated into the church and the community therein.
We Provide Food & Necessities
Oftentimes adult orphans come on hard times or can't quite make ends meet. Thus, we assist them financially a bit - often helping them buy groceries, other life necessities, or pay their bills. We always tread a fine balance with this because don't want to be enablers. We usually just assist these sort on a very temporary basis.
We Help with Social Issues
Frequently, adult orphans have great difficulty dealing with important legal/financial issues, e.g. banking, applying for government programs, doing legal paperwork, paying bills, etc.... We aid them in these areas, easing their stress and ensuring they don't screw up with these important matters.
